Despite how it looks, we are making progress! For awhile I was convinced I was living in hell and it was white (like dry-wall dust!) However, I'm anxious to get home from work today because we should have all the concrete poured around the pool and the new hardwood down in the kitchen, dining room, front entry way and down the hall to the bedrooms. This will be a great improvement from the subfloor that we've been enjoying for the last 2 1/2 weeks! My dear Mike spent all day yesterday cleaning and prepping the walls for painting. Unbeknownst to us, when you scrape "popcorn" ceilings, you will inevitably have to repaint the walls. He finished painting the hall way at 11:00 p.m. last night. We're hoping to get the new laundry room/half bath painted this weekend, as well as the dining room and kitchen. Both bathrooms had their ceilings scraped and stomped so they both need to be painted as well. That may be a cold November weekend project. And for once I'm grateful our bathrooms are small!! HA!
All in all the experience has been stressful, but tolerable. Considering the inside project started on Oct. 7th and the cabinets and counters will be installed next Mon/Tues and everything should be completely done by next Wed. we are very fortunate. Three weeks for a major remodel is fantastic!! We had a superb contractor who works with great people- all of them perfectionists down to the last detail!
Keep an eye out in December for an invitation to a Holiday Open House at the newly improved Chez Pennington!!
